Cabbage Lemonade
Cabbage is a cruciferous vegetable, part of the family which includes broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, bok choy and cauliflower. Cruciferous veggies contain potent anti-cancer compounds. Consuming green vegetables like cabbage also lowers the risk of heart disease and diabetes. It also reduces inflammation in your body which is good for anyone with an autoimmune disease. I love juicing cabbage because of the high water content it contains. This helps you get the most bang for your buck! The lemons, lime and apple in this juice give it a sweet tangy flavor to make it light and refreshing.
Makes about 12 ounces of juice.
– ¼ of a medium organic green cabbage (approximately)
– 2 medium organic lemons
– ½ a medium organic lime
– ½ a large or one medium organic Gala or Fuji apple
Chop the cabbage into pieces that are small enough to fit into your juicer. Rinse and place the cabbage and the apple in a stainless silver bowl and cover them with water. Add about two tablespoons of white vinegar, stir and let it sit for at least two minutes. Drain the water and rinse the cabbage and apple again. Peel the lemons and lime and chop into pieces that are small enough to fit into your juicer. Core the apple and chop into medium sized pieces. Juice all of the ingredients. After you’ve made all of the juice, mix it back and forth into another container like you would a mixed drink.
Pour into a glass and enjoy!
So…what do you think? Comment below and let me know.
Wow. This looks fabulous.
I typically am a smoothie gal but am looking for new EASY ways to integrate some green juicing. This fits the bill and looks refreshing too.
Thank you.
Thanks! It is refreshing Jodi! Definitely let me know how you like it after you’ve had the chance to try it 🙂
Looking forward to trying this! Thanks Ami Cietta!
You’re most welcome Valerie. Enjoy it!
This looks delicious! Thanks for sharing.
Can’t wait to make this. Thank you!
Sounds tasty. I will have to try it.
Sounds delicious and something I haven’t tried before. I’m looking forward to picking up some cabbage at market day tomorrow and getting juicy! Thanks AmiCietta
You’re welcome Ladies! It’s a great drink in the warm weather. Enjoy!
Would love to try this, but should I add water?
No. This is a juice, so if you have a juicer, it will create the juice for you. If you’re blending it, I would suggest that you add water, but I can’t assure you how it will taste 🙂 Let me know how it turns out if you blend the ingredients. Check out my post about the difference between blending and juicing here.
